Introducing Jerry n' Cynthia
Hello! We are Jerry n' Cynthia, 2 ordinary people living an extraordinary life. We love the Lord, we love to laugh, love to travel, love to take pictures and share our experiences with others. We're not rich nor do we have many possessions, but we do have everything we need.
We met in 2006 and found we shared a fondness of a great many things, including each other. After dating for a little while, we decided to marry and begin our new adventurous life together. Cynthia is a planner and Jerry is as spontaneous as they come... great combination, huh? Actually, it works out great for us. He says "Hey, let's go!" and she says "What? Where? When? Oh, OK! Let's go!".
Jerry is and is 100% disabled due to a gunshot wound in 1990. He took 2 bullets to the chest, one of which went into his spine. Although not confined to a wheelchair, he has a plethora of problems that prevent him from working. Cynthia is and a cancer survivor. Our modest income is Jerry's monthly SSDI check. We have no debt which is how we are able to live as we do. No installment accounts, no credit cards, no loans, nothing. We have this philosophy that if we can't afford something, we don't buy it.
We're bargain hunters and frugal as we need to be. We bought our truck used (pre-owned for you politically correct folks) and also bought the camper used. The scooters we bought from a Honda dealer since I have never seen a used Ruckus for sale. We save until we have enough to buy what we want or need. It's much easier to save money when you don't have any excess bills to pay. Now we do have the mandatory bills like insurance, fuel and food... no way to get around that.
All the kids are grown and with no responsibilities at home, we decided to live life on the road and see all we could see before it was too late. When we are too old to get around, we want to have a head full of memories and tens of thousands of photographs to help us recall the places we have been, the things we have seen and the people we have met.
We'd rather spread a little cheer and make a small difference in someone's life than attain fame or wealth. On this site, you'll be able to follow along as we live our dream. And if you want to know the main reason we live the life we do, click here.

We have gathered courage, partly through reading through your posts, ie RV
Rorum and Escapees. My husband and I are on a very small budget, have only
money saved via the sell of our planned retirement location. We will begin
full timing around same time as you, in meantime we are staying with our
generous daughter and her husband... lost my job due to economy, husband
retired with no retirement income. I am disabled due to post polio, use a
power chair to get around, am able to walk with cane short distances... we
are looking now to buy a used trailer and truck... trying to figure out if
we end up with 5vr how would we carry the power chair...? Your mods on
your trailer seem practical and fairly simple, so thanks for including
those tips in your blogs... we will need to workamp along the way, mostly
want to boondock.. if we may ask, how much did solar set up end up costing
you? Thank you for doing what our great God as asked you to do, we will be
walking the path He has for us, as He whispers to us along our path He has
set for us! HallaluYah!! Thank you to for taking the time to respond to
our inquiry! Markand Terri

Just want to say "hello" and wish you God-speed as you begin your new life.
We are much on the same path--just waiting and watching for God's lead.
Hubby will be soon retiring, we are preparing our home for sale, ridding
ourselves of the possessions we thought we needed and waiting on God's
timing. In some respects He has accelerated our schedule (causing an
earlier retirement for my husband than planned)--perhaps God is raising up
an army of those of us who love travel and see needs out there to be met.
If we see you on the road, we will be sue to introduce ourselves, in the
meantime, God bless you for all you do!

God Bless you Both:)
I am 54 my wife is 52 married 23 years no children and have cared in our
home for my mom for 5 years with alzheimers.
We dream of doing what you are doing some day but wont have the income you
have as we need work but hope to find it on the road here and there to
survive. We think a lot like you that we do not need a high end motorhome
but a small trailer like yours and a tow vehicle and each other to be
happy. My wife worries what others will think of us full timing in a small
trailer. I say if they don't like us for our rv so be it but we will be
happy together. I hope within a year or two maybe we can cross paths if we
can manage to make it like you two have and be as happy as you two appear.
Right now we are in Mesa Arizona. Again God Bless you both and happy trails
for many years to come.

We, too, have little funds and have 2 and 1/2 yrs until SS, if it is still
there....... We found places to buy food that will last us up to 3 weeks
for $30-35.00 from Angel Foods Ministries, we'll workamp wherever God leads
us, and other saving places, we have thought long and hard, and prayed over
the last yrs (since 2004) for God to make His path for us known. With
small amt of funds, we are taking the huge step, (we have done sooooo much
research)seems like out over the Grand Canyon and will begin our FT
adventure - in His Name, next month... as soon as our daughter has her 7th
baby - blessed with "full quiver", she has home births and I am blessed to
be her midwife! We will come back often to visit all of our
grandchildren/families - we have 9 all together. May God bless you, Ron
and Kathy as you seek Him in everything you do! Pray to see you on the
road, maybe sooner than you think!

Hello, Jerry & Cynthia; I came across your blog today, and just had to
comment. I love the mission that you are on, and wanted to share that my
daughter and I are overcoming four years of homelessness to full time in
our RV, and plan to use our trip as a service dog/brain injury awareness
campaign (I'm disabled with a brain injury, MS, Lyme disease and utilize a
service dog). Our bigger mission is to witness to others and share the
amazing things that God has done in our lives through our lives and through
our nonprofit program. God bless you, Kimberly, Sarah and our "fur kids",

Thank you Mark and Terri for the words of encouragement but people like
Jerry and Cynthia are inspiring. It shows you do not have to have a
motorhome worth a hundred thousand to be happy living a dream and sharing
gods word with others. We have sacraficed every dime we have had to provide
my mother with proper care in our home with alzheimers over a nursing home.
I know that the Lord will work with us in allowing us to take the adventure
of a live time like Jerry and Cynthia are doning now. But till then its
wonderful to live it threw their eyes and words for now. God bless all of
you that are inspired by this site and especially the owners of it.
God Bless

He, such an inspiring post! I really enjoyed the part of
traveling fulltime in an rv.. We also have an rv, which
most fulltimers have a big bus or 5th wheel. It is our
intention to start out in the travel trailer, when and if
our house sells. My Husband is also on disability, and I
plan to retire early just so we can enjoy our time together
doing something we enjoy! I have one question, where do you
intend on spending the Winter months? Do you plan on stopping in PA? Ok, it
was two questions! Enjoy your endevors and may our paths meet someday!

Way to go you two! Get out there and adventure. My husband was always a
'glass half empty' type and always delaying and denying everything. Seven
months ago, a freak accident left him paralyzed at age 48. His health is
precarious. I am now his full-time caregiver and have to face facts that I
will face my retirement alone. I plan on that time being on the road. I
don't want to miss a minute of life, I fully understand how precious it is.
So live the dream for me and here's hoping that someday we'll meet on the
road. Terri

What a wonderful find, my mother died 11/29/09 and since then I have
decided to take stock of where I'm at and my wife has also. We bought a
used class a and are starting to m,ake plans to sell the house and if
possible figure out how to full time in the RV.
Unfortunately we are in debt to our eyballs because we helped family and
when needed put bills on credit cards so we somehow have to get that taken
care of. My health with diabetes and bad knees and back isn't helping but
with Gods help we will get by.
Thank you for this wonderfull blog and we hope to be full timers one day as
well!

Terri,
How unfortunate, hopefully your husband sees that glass is half full befor
ehe passes. I for a long time saw life as a half empty affair and 20 years
ago figured that I may as well make the best of it. My wif is my best
friend and hopefully we will get through our debt issues to also see you on
the road someday.
We pray for you and your husband and I hope he sses that the glass is half
full, no matter what the situation.
Good luck to you.

Glad to find your blog! My husband and I have been married 25 years, kids
are grown and gone and he has just over 2 years left until retiring from
the Army (with a total of 29 years of service.
Our plan for years has been to sell everything and live in a 5th wheel or
class A and travel when he retires. We were transferred to Montgomery, AL
Sept '09 and sold our home...in preparation of retirement. We currently
have a 30 ft travel trailer and plan to move into a 5th at retirement.
Working on getting all bills paid off (not far off!!) so that we are able
to live and travel comfortably on his retirement pay.
I see mention of 'workkamp' and am interested to find out more about that.
Will have to do some 'googling'!
Look forward to following your adventure!
